When in town, I always visit Cotton Gin Fabric. Always something new! They come up with a lot of easy kits also. Amazing amount of fabric their store, very well stocked. And the new owner is super helpful, as well as all the staff. This quilt shop is a gem!

Loved this fabric store. I love going to different fabric/ quilt stores and finding brand fabrics I have not seen before. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. One gal gave us a little tour to point out themed fabrics and where they were. They had a class going on in the back. They were having fun. They have some beautiful, unusual 108"backing. When I am in the area, I hope I can visit again.

You should not take this review to heart, it's a lovely shop, I think I just went on a bad day.

I went out of my way to go to this shop, I was excited and enamored of some of the fabrics I saw on their less than stellar website. I walked into the shop happy and looking forward to finding the things that I wanted, but noted right away that the lighting was weird. You could tell they tried really hard to make the lighting better - but their efforts fell flat. I had to pull fabrics and bring to another area to see if the shades were what I was looking for. I, unfortunately, happened to go upon a day that they, themselves, were undergoing an upgrade or repair, which required the power to be temporarily cut off. After making my selections, getting them cut, and moving to their register, I found that the employees were poorly equipped to deal with anything outside the norm... The power outage had created a problem with their credit card processing unit. After waiting 20 to 30 plus minutes for both employees to try to figure things out with minimal communication to me, the customer, that was ready and waiting to give them my $113 in exchange for a few different selections of fabric - I ended up walking out without anything in hand.

I walked out after being left standing alone at the register without a word. The employees just walked away without explaining why they were walking away... one had recommended I drive the 35 minutes back another day... wait, what?!? Stop - uh No. I've already gone out of my way to visit your shop and can't purchase anything due to your inequity, and you want me to possibly waste my time again.

I thought it strange that they didn't try to make any accommodations - I mean, their website was still functional... why not convert the order to an online order so they get paid and the customer gets what they want as well. I love win, win situations, but neither employee seemed to even think about that as a possibility, and they certainly didn't want to communicate with me, considering they just walked away without saying a word. The whole thing was weird.

I really wanted the fabrics, though, so I called them after I'd gotten a bite to eat just to see if they'd figured out their problems yet - they hadn't. It was so sad to see people unable or unwilling to think outside the box to serve their customers.

In the end, I ended up buying the same fabrics from online sources and saved
$4/yd on one of the fabrics and $2/3 on the others. Overall, the poor experience at this shop ended up as a HUGE SAVINGS to me. I'll take the win.

Vanitee' Systems

The store is so well organized it is hard not to purchase anything. I am not a quilter, but the range of quality, color, and patterns in their sewing fabrics is worth the visit. Don't be hesitant because the place is small. The stock is more varied than a store several times the Cotton Gin's size.
